The Naani diaries are a story of independently strong women supported by pillar-like men who trust them.
The Naani diaries story begins with an ambitious working woman Radhika living in Newyork, who, with heartbreak due to her past, relocates to India and finds solace in living with her maternal Grandmother.
As she wants to get married before thirty, she puts all her efforts into getting the man of her dreams. Will She succeed in her marriage pursuit or not is the rest of the story.

1. Former IAS Gayathri Khurana – The passionate septuagenarian and the founder of Grace beauty saloon
She is that inspirational modern woman who, after the death of her husband, decides to live her desire of growing into a successful businesswoman by running a saloon.
Not that she instils courage and confidence with makeup-enhancing looks and the appearance of her clients, but her words of wisdom help them overcome their fear of failure.
She happens to be a loving Indian grandmum when she prioritizes her granddaughter and does everything to comfort her. She stands like a strong pillar of support when Radhika wishes to get married and does her best to find the best suitors. Despite her disastrous marriage with her late husband, she instils hope and ensures a happy marriage when Radhika speaks of getting married before turning 30.
She stands like a saviour when the affluent family of the bridegroom tries to bring down the self-respect of her granddaughter. And when her granddaughter needs her the most, she becomes a patient listener and problem solver giving the best solutions possible.
2. Radhika
A Strong-willed and dedicated professional who wants to marry and settle down in India flies back to her motherland after reading her grandmum’s diary with a suitcase full of marriage dreams rooted in the arranged marriage set up in India. she does everything that ticks the list of being the best choice.
At the same time, when asked to leave her well-paying job in Bombay as directed by her well-to-do fiancee. She comes up with a business idea that materializes with the help of her friend zain, who introduces her to Dipa, a venture capitalist who turns radika’s purposeful business idea into a joint business venture. Radhika finds her passion in training Indian women to be great business leaders.
Eventually, she realizes that having an understanding companion is an impeccable part of a successful marriage. So she decides to wait till she finds true companionship like the love between Birdy and her Naani.
3. Rajni
Rajni plays her part as an ever-understanding best friend of Radika. She is that friend who is just a screen away but eases Radhika at her most difficult times, be it Newyork or in India.
She is the one that helps her friend cope with the conditions posed on her while her marriage preparations that begin with a boy belonging to the wealthiest family in Delhi. Rajni speaks to fill the oxygen when Radhika finds it hard to survive the hardships of life.
4. Birdy – Badrinath Rajan seems to be the true lover of Gayatri, who decides to stay with her as her protector and support her throughout life. He gives her great importance even though she does not reciprocate love and has almost wasted forty years of his life.
Even when she regrets it, he is generous enough to say I cannot say the time I spent with you to be a waste of time ever.
5. Zain is seen as the young man who is happy being able to manage and develop his uncle birdy’s cotton mill business.
Because his mother’s brother trusted him from his teenage, despite having a difficult life, Zain does not live a life of regret but a gratifying attitude he carries when he realizes Birdy has changed his life from worst to best and remains thankful to his uncle and his family.
Zain had a difficult life until he met Birdy. But he is dedicated and passionate about his work which transforms him into a confident entrepreneur with a beneficial business network.
He also becomes a trustworthy friend to Radhika and eventually realizes his love for the intelligent, vivacious, and talented Radhika.
After reading about such solid characters, all of you would want to read the story of Radhika & her Naani and know if Radhika found her life companion or not.

Loved the review. I thought Naani diaries was some western book. Then I read the characters and the author. Will try to get my hands on this book.
Women and families are surely the best antidotes to pain. Radhika’s story so resonates with all of us,. We need good families and empathisers in our life.

Strong characters and a good storyline is a great recipe for a good read. The Naani Diaries will surely be on my reading list.
I was looking for this book but missed getting copy but I made up my mind to have it real soon and the reason behind this decision is your skill of presenting the characters of this book through your post. Truly agree that a character’s character makes such a difference in every story. It helps make a storyline more interesting for the audience and for them to get hooked with the story.
