Eating less is making you fat – Book Review

The Thank You Blog Review

Eating Less is making you fat by Vijay Thakkar is a book that bursts the myths around weight loss.

Every fact he states about maintaining weight and improving metabolism the author proves with various case studies.

The approach to understanding why we gain weight or become obese is by knowing how our body responds to calorie intake and what happens when we consume carbs and sugars, and what is the ideal change the body needs to replenish energy for everyday activities from fats rather than carbs.

High carb diet is one prominent reason for the increase in LDL cholesterol.
The book covers many topics that govern the weight loss process; hormones, calories, carbohydrates, glycemic index, heart-healthy fats that aid weight loss, and insulin resistance.

I took a long time to write the book review as the second part of the book seemed helpful and informative.

The FRFP protocol recommends 12 hours to 16 hours of overnight fasting. During the eating window, restring carbs, fueling with Fat, and proceeding with protein is the right path that leads to weight loss.

The health benefits of dark chocolate and coffee, fermentation being the good old blessing, are attested by the expert trainer and author too. The role of exercise with easily doable exercise routines and healthy breakfast recipes, including the role of sleep in maintaining overall health, are discussed in a detailed manner making the book an all-rounder in providing the knowledge needed to embark on a healthy weight loss journey and promote overall fitness and wellbeing.

About the book

In this seminal take on well-being and fitness, celebrity health coach and functional medicine expert Vijay Thakkar presents his trademarked four-step formula for weight loss. Backing his theories with science and data, Vijay traces the origins of diabetes and heart diseases, conditions that are gaining ground among the young and seemingly fit. He explains how stress, exercise and the quality of food impact hormones; simplifies the science behind low-carb diets and intermittent fasting; and offers sustainable methods to maintain optimal weight and lifelong health.

There’s so many myths and beliefs about losing weight not to add tons of products sold. It’s sad when there’s only one thing one should do to have a healthy body, have the right mindset. With this, you’ll be more mindful of the food you’re eating, you’ll value your body and make sure to put in (eat) the nutrients your body needs for it to function well, and have a better understanding of the good effects of what food you eat.

Quite some myth-busting there and rightly so. I am so glad that my favorite dark chocolate, coffee, and fermentation get ticks for being healthy.

Thanks for sharing about the book. A lot of people think eating less makes you lose weight. It can also slow down your metabolism. I don’t believe in fasting for weight loss but it can work for younger people.

I’m a serious advocate of a healthy lifestyle. Weightloss is such a misunderstood concept that people go to extreme levels of diets to lose without realising the harm they’re doing to their bodies. This seems quite an informative read and will be helpful to understand how our body works.

The title looks quite debatable Sivaranjini😛. I wish you had given a little more of what the book is about for me to decide if it is worth reading or not. I wouldv loved to see if his food philosophy matches with mine. But one thing did… intermittent fasting. I do that too.

Looks like it is a good read for me as iam always on a losing battle with weight loss. I also agree that eating right and the correct portion helps in metabolism and thus weight loss. Starving or eating less actually doesn’t help.
