There she was, a little girl
Struggling her way through life.
Every way she walked she managed her battles.
Each word she heard through, adjusted, and slowly accepted was about the same thing. It was all about being not enough,
Being imperfect.
So often laughed at.
Accepting herself and understanding the power of self-love she grew up to be a woman who was confident enough to face the world.
She dreamt of him too early.
To be loved, to be cared for, to be accepted yet respected for who she is. She longed for companionship that lasted a lifetime.
Finally, he was there.
She felt happy.
There were his arms which held her firm yet softy comforting. His eyes spoke a thousand words she waited for decades to hear and be overwhelmed by it.
She grinned ear to ear what was the reason for the winning grin?
There were these disturbing voices that once echoed in her ears.
What are you waiting for?
You are not even serious about life?
Aren’t you interested?
How come you keep your standards high?
You have to be realistic otherwise
You will regret it badly.
What are you thinking about yourself?
Stop over-expecting. You are already old enough. Why dont you compromise?
She gave a damn to all these words that broke her from inside.
And today in his smile she was rebuilt like never before.
And today in his smile she got the answers to all these bothering questions.
She replied:
My wait is mine.
My wait is worthwhile.
My life is mine.
She realized she was right with her replies when he kissed her forehead.
The forehead kiss was worth a million hugs she thought until when he hugged her tight for the first time.
His first hug gave her all the love she deserved yet waited for all these long years.
Wait I am not done. I want to hug you longer he whispered.
Too much oxytocin at once she murmured as she enjoyed being unheard at her moment.

Was he her magic wand?
Maybe or maybe not.
A prayer fullfiled and a blessing granted was all that he meant to her.

Love is an emotion made possible by the hormone oxytocin. Nice story of love. More we love more the hormone is released. The cycle continues.
A hug, a kiss on the forehead and the sweet feeling of love. This is truly oxygen for the soul, or should I say oxytocin.
Love is the most beautiful feeling in the world. Unconditional, unbiased – woven with trust and hope.
We all crave for this kind of acceptance, love, and companionship, isn’t it?
Love is what makes the world go around. Would have been even better if we had heard from the character rather than you telling us about the character.
You are such an incredible writer! I am totally touched by these words.
Love dont needs word for expression and all that it need is warmth of emotion. The moment it is there in form a hug, a kiss or just a touch, the world feels divine. It gives oxygen to life and we keep going spreading the essence of love. The Power of Oxytocin

This is such a hopeful and heartwarming read. It teaches us never to back down on our expectations and settle for less when it comes choosing our partners. Loved these lines, “His eyes spoke a thousand words she waited for decades to hear and be overwhelmed by it.”
You had me at that kiss on the forehead! Such a simple and beautiful story this is.
All I can do is complain why did you cut the story…haha…It was such a lovely time reading this piece. Love how you put together the words and made it go on and on without being boring or overly cheesy.

I’m glad she’s taking her time and relishing the experience slowly. The early stages in a relationship are the most precious.
This beautifully shows how patience and self-love lead to the happiness we truly deserve. That forehead kiss moment felt so real and special!
