The Thank You Blog Review For The Sorcery of the Senses
The Thank You Blog Review
The senses of druv grant him the power to see his past, and he explores stories of his previous births filled with fantasy and adventure.
The book has three different stories about the protagonist, Dhruv. The book is a fantasy novel that highlights supernatural powers but also has so many supporting characters that make it a wholesome life story filled with different human emotions such as happiness, sadness, fear, disgust, anger, and surprise at various circumstances of the three main characters Ghriz, Mong and Dhruv.
Three of his senses conjure a spell, and Dhruv learns that he was born a girl, Ghriz, blessed with extraordinary eyesight that takes detailed notice of animals in the jungle, making her the star hunter and, later, the tribe lead. In another birth, he is born as Mong, a girl with the superpower of magical healing touch.
Despite living his past lives with superpowers, he has failed the mission of protecting the holy stone.
But in the present life, with the help of Dristi- The sense of sight, Sparsha – The sense of touch he comes to know the reason behind failing the mission. But with guidance from Ghraan -The sense of smell, he gets a part of the holy stone that was with Juthika and learns he also has the task of retrieving the part of the stone which is in control of the evil senses.
I think the author likes giving unique names, or she wants to show that the fantasy world characters have cute and different names as every character in the book has such names.
Each story of druv’s past is related to his present life. He discovers the purpose of his life in his parental home in Rakipur and gets ready to get the missing part of the powerful holy stone.
Why does Dhruv visit his parental home at Rakipur? What happens to Ghriz? What happens to Mong? How were they influencing Dhruv’s present life? Why does Dhruv set a new purpose for his life even after succeeding partially in the mission that he failed in his previous life?
The book answers all the questions and promises readers to wait for the second part. If you are looking for a racy fantasy read to add to your reading list, get your copy of The Sorcery of Senses here.
About the book
Dhruv is on the brink of a midlife crisis when he stumbles upon Dristi, the sense of vision. She helps him to look back at a past life when Dhruv was a girl with supervision. Then Sparsha, the sense of touch, enables Dhruv to remember his life as Mong, a girl with the healing power of touch. Will Dhruv be able to connect the dots in his present life? Will he be able to complete the mission he failed in his previous lives?

The play on the senses is a well-explored area. However, the core always lies in the way the protagonist uses the senses. I guess that would make for an interesting discovery in this book.
I too have read this book few weeks backs or so. I really loved the concept of past and how one remember what happened and for what’s the reason he is born and must accomplish the target. The reason he got got to know about the failure and the mission is excellently depicted in the book.
I am really tempted to read this book after going through your review. Fantasy is a loved genre for me and I really need this fantasy need to escape my mundane life .
The plot sounds really interesting to me, especially because the protagonist who in current birth is HE with 2 earlier births as she with supernatural power. Earlier also I read supernatural power stories but what I felt from your review is that this story is bit different and interesting too. In the last part you mentioned that in current birth the protagonist realized that his mission is still on to find the remaining part of the holy stone from the evils… I smelled it like the NO Shadow without light novel of Luke Cracias where the protagonist was on a mission to find the lost pages of the book Devil’s prayer before falling in the hands of the Devil… I am definitely going to pick this book for me. Thanks for the awesome recommendation.
One interesting book that looks like. I too love the names of the characters. Thanks for the review.
Indian authors not exploring the fantasy fiction genre has always been my pet peeve. More so since there are so many stories in mythology for inspiration. Your review has piqued my interest. I am adding the book to my TBR.
This will be a very interesting book read especially after tge review u hv given. I don’t remember reading something with supernatural power.
My friend also suggested me… to read this book. The idea of remembering one’s past and the events that led up to one’s birth and the ultimate goal of one’s life was fascinating to me. The novel does a great job of depicting the events that led to him learning of the mission’s failure. Loved your detailed review.

That’s an amazing review for an amazing book. Although I dont read fantasies, Sorcery of senses has pricked my curiosity. The thought of Dhruv, being a girl, intrigues me and I want to know what happens next.

Sounds like a good book. I am not a great fan of fantasy novels. Sometimes they go too overboard. Will try this book for sure.
The spin of words in the title is quite intriguing, must say!
Love the names that have been given to characters. I have only read Harry Potter & a little of The Lord Of The Rings in the fantasy genre. Nice review of the book with just enough stuff to keep the reader hooked to wanting more
