Amla Munch – A Thank You Blog Product Review

When this generation is fearful about the word ”processed” when it comes to food, it becomes crucial to remember that It is a term not only used for packaged food that has high sodium or high fructose corn syrup, which may cause health concerns when consumed often.

All the steps beginning from washing, peeling, drying, cutting, salting, pickling, blanching, and heating, including cooking, are collectively known as processing steps necessary to render edible food products.
Neither the term ‘processing’ nor these processing steps were used first by the Millennials but have existed for ages.

Grandmums did all of these processing steps and preservation techniques with one prime motive to make the food available around the year, specifically during the off-season.

Amla is one such fruit, which has all its nutrients concentrated when dried or soaked in honey or salted or pickled and remains a superfood irrespective of the preserving technique.

Dried amla, or Indian gooseberry, is a power punch of nutrients.

Vitamin C: Dried amla is one of the richest sources of vitamin C, with 100 grams fulfilling the daily recommended intake of this disease-preventing antioxidant.

It helps protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. It also plays a vital role in the immune system and can help boost collagen production, which ensures healthy skin, hair, and nails.

Iron
Dried amla is also a good source of iron, which is essential in the production of red blood cells and helps maintain healthy oxygen levels in the body, and prevents anemia.

Calcium
Dried amla is rich in calcium, which helps build and maintain strong bones and teeth. It also plays a role in muscle function, nerve transmission, and blood clotting.

Potassium
Dried amla contains potassium, an essential mineral that helps regulate blood pressure, support healthy kidney function, and ensure a healthy heart.

Fiber
Dried amla is high in fiber, which helps healthy digestion and prevents constipation. It also helps regulate blood sugar levels and lower cholesterol.

In addition to these nutrients, dried amla contains other beneficial plant compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, and polyphenols. These compounds have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

I like having Amla after the initial burst of sourness goes away… I love the after taste but the sourness makes it very difficult so I put it in vegetable juices. Dried Amla maybe a great way to have it as I dont think it will be too sour. I don’t like the candied ones that are available.
I may try this brand Sivaranjini, thanks for the review.
