Why Ana Food’s proso millet dosa mix is your ultimate go-to option for a healthy and proteinaceous breakfast.

The Thank You Blog Food Product Review for Ana Foods instant proso millet breakfast Mix

Dosa, which comes in crispy cones and distinct circles, is an appetizing beauty that almost half of the Indian population loves.

It is one of the most well-known fermented foods in India. It ranks among India’s most popular fermented foods.

What makes dosa different from other fermented foods in India like idly, dhokla, and pickles is that it is tasty, crispy, and healthy.

However, keep in mind that dosa is only healthy when eaten 2-3 in number per serving.

‘If you asked me to eat dosa for all three meals of the day, I would be happy to do so’ and this sentence is too small to say how much I love dosa.

What’s and Why’s of Fermentation

Fermentation is a process that changes the starch and sugar in food into alcohols and acids that help improve the nutrition profile while maintaining the quality and digestibility of the food.

If you want to know everything about fermentation, you can read it in the given link. Fermentation is the oldest preservation technique known to mankind.

Any idea when your great-grandmother started pickling?

I will leave this answer to you, and you can let me know in the comments.

Fermentation of curd uses beneficial Lactobacillus bacteria, which is a probiotic that can keep your gut smiling.

I know you might be wondering why I am concerned about regular rice, urad dal, and fenugreek dosa batter now after writing an entire detailed introduction post about millets in my previous blog post.

How to prepare the instant Dosa Batter?

Today, I am going to introduce you to a better version of dosa batter with the instant proso millet breakfast mix from Ana Foods, which gets ready in around 20 minutes.

Add the required amount of curd and water as per the instructions printed on the packaging and bring to the desired dosa consistency. Rest the batter for 20 minutes before you make the dosa.

5 preeminent health benefits of Proso Millet that you should know.

  1. Proso millet has a protein content of 11.6%, with four (leucine, isoleucine, methionine, and cystine) of the eight essential amino acids that help in making the proteins.
  2. Proso millet is rich in dietary fibre, which naturally contributes to its low glycemic index.
  3. Proso millet has plenty of vitamins and minerals. with a notable amount of phosphorous useful in the growth, maintenance, and repair of tissues and cells, and magnesium, which improves nerve and muscle function.
  4. Proso millet is rich in vitamin B3, or niacin, which helps our body convert nutrients into energy, helps the body make good cholesterol or HDL, and helps form and repair the genetic material, or DNA.
  5. It is a great option for pregnant women as it has folic acid, which helps in brain development in the baby.

My take on the millet dosa mix

I consider the millet dosa mix an energy-packed breakfast that pairs well with peanut or coconut chutney.

Believe me when I say that I am a die-hard regular dosa fan who, until roughly a year ago, wasn’t even able to listen to suggestions to try millet dosa.

However, Ana Foods’ millet breakfast combo and an assortment of instant breakfast mixes are truly game-changers.

Check out the millet breakfast options on this website and prepare a quick and nourishing breakfast for your family.

If you find yourself becoming bored of dosa quickly, you can make uthappam or paniyaram by adding your preferred vegetables to the proso millet batter.

Millets I got to know very recently as superfoods. But I never had the slightest of idea that it can be an alternative for the Dosa batter. One more thing I will honestly accept that I dont know why I cant make dosa . Tried several times but always ended up making some blunders. But I will try it once more with proso millet pre-mix, who knows I may succeed. Thanks for introducing this product to us.

I decided to make a change in my diet after seeing our Prime Minister’s emphasis on incorporating millets. It got me thinking about the nutritional benefits they offer. I’ve never made millet dosa before, but I want to make it for my kids. I think it’s a good way to give them healthy food and try something different. It’s like an adventure in cooking with millets and finding new flavors that my family might like.

We prefer making our own dosa batter instead of a store bought one but tempted to give this one a shot. Millets are way more nutrtious and glad we have so many options now. Thanks for sharing about this.

Great recipe but having peanuts on it is a no-no for me as my daughter’s allergic to it. I haven’t tried millet but have been seeing a lot of recipes with it already. I’d probably try sometime and see for myself how it is.

I love home made dosa and so do my kids but I buy the readymade ID batter. I have never made my own batter. Looks like the millet variant is a good option considering the digestibility and health factor and also, it’s fairly easy to make. I hope it tastes as good too.
