Book Review – Happy Endings By Minita Sanghvi

About the book

Krish is the latest ‘it’ thing. The Indian-export, award-winning lesbian author, who is being actively pursued by Bollywood’s darling Karan Raichand for movie rights to her Booker-nominated book.

But her past catches up to her on the 14-hour flight back to India when she’s seated next to Mahi, the woman who broke her heart ten years ago. Mahi, now Mahek Singh, is India’s #1 actress and Karan’s biggest star.

As old memories and anger resurface, Mahi and Krish have to contend with Bollywood glamour, interfering relatives, crazy fans, and zealous best friends, all of which complicate their already star-crossed relationship.

Traversing the past, present, and a hopeful future, can Krish move beyond her heartbreak? Will Mahi have to choose between her career and her love all over again?

Or will a second chance finally lead to happiness?

The Thank You Blog review

The queer love story of Mehek Singh and Krishna Mehra has all the elements of a gripping read.

From being together since childhood to facing problems that surface with love, and separation, both of them meeting again as a successful Bollywood star and bestselling author on a 14-hour flight leads to their happy end eventually with well-written characters.

Krishna’s mother’s character depicts a loving Indian mother and a strong lady. When Krish says she is different, she assures her child that her motherly love for her daughter will always be unaltered.
She accompanies Krish to the award ceremony and feels proud of her daughter’s booker-nominated novel.

Or when Krish finds it hard to forgive Mehek, her mother again takes mahek’s side and justifies saying because of the situation, Mehek had to get away.

The author takes help from lyrics of Bollywood songs to add emotions to her characters and make her romantic novel a good punch of entertainment with drama, love, romance, and a happy ending.

Mehek stands with Krish during her hard times, bringing the best doctor for Krish’s ailing mother and doing the best she could as any loving person would do for their family.

The love between Krish and Mehek seems the same as that between a man and a woman. When the author speaks about Romeo and Juliet and pride and prejudice, she shows the realm of love and the relationship between Krish and Mehek.

The author has woven the emotions, situations, characters, story, and plot in a successful way making this book a successful romance novel of queer literature.

When it comes to acceptance in society, the author mentions queer love and romance being part of Indian mythology. In the last part of this book, when Krish and Mehek unite after a big struggle like any other love story, this queer romance also instills hope, love, joy, and the glory of triumph in its readers.
