Secret of healthy hair – Book Review

The Thank You Blog Book Review

We are all generally aware that having healthy hair is a reflection of having a healthy body and a happy mind. And when I say that practically none of us can achieve both, I mean it. though everyone of us strives to achieve it. And for almost everyone, having healthy hair with little to no hair fall is the ultimate dream.
I intended to use this review as a brief and concise how-to guide for getting the healthiest possible hair for those reading it.
Almost 90% of hair products on the market today have a tagline that says, “Prevents hair loss and strengthens hair.” But if you think that external products alone can solve your hair problems, you are probably believing another hair myth. Today, I will be reviewing the book Secret of Healthy Hair,” written by La Fonceur, a health blogger and research scientist with a focus on pharmaceutical technology. She runs a successful blog, so I can tell you that the first seven chapters of her book are optimised for search engines. The titles of these chapters range from “10 most important nutrients for hair” to “10 foods to prevent hair loss and promote hair growth,” making them suitable for almost everyone in today’s world to read through word for word.

The second section covered a variety of hair issues, their causes, and remedies. In the third section of the book, she presents a seasonally appropriate diet plan and lifestyle guide to achieve healthy, lustrous hair. Additionally, she has included delectable, nutritious, and hair-nourishing recipes and their nutritional information in the book’s concluding section.

Top 10 Secrets that You Should Be Aware of to Have Healthy Hair.

1. Ensure your diet has enough protein, iron, vitamin B12, vitamin D, omega-3 fats, zinc, biotin, selenium, vitamin E, and vitamin A, which are the nutrients most crucial to having healthy hair.
2. Steer clear of carbonated drinks, sugar, starchy foods, diet soda, and saturated fats.
3. Avoid tying your hair up tightly, taking hot showers, getting too much sun exposure, washing your hair too frequently, and rubbing your damp hair too much when drying it with a towel. Use products designed specifically for the hair treatments you’ve had. Avert excessive chemical exposure to your hair. Refrain from touching your hair frequently with your hands.

4. To ensure healthy hair, trim your hair every two to three months, comb it regularly, use sulphate-free shampoo when washing it, and most importantly, try to stress less.
5. Avoid sleeping with tightly tied hair, oil hair 45 minutes before washing, and condition after shampooing.
6. Include leafy greens, legumes, seeds, nuts, dairy products, citrus fruits high in vitamin C, peas, beans, mung beans, sprouts, mangoes, sweet potatoes, and last but not least, water.

7. The following foods, which you can readily get, aid in preventing hair loss and encouraging hair growth: spinach, carrots, amla, chia seeds, sesame seeds, black grammes, raw coconut, soy, yoghurt, or Indian curd.
8. Strengthening hair and preventing greying are achieved by using henna as a natural conditioner. Using diluted apple cider vinegar as the last rinse helps restore moisture after a hair wash.
9. Since seeds are a great source of omega-3 fats, include a range of them in your diet, such as sunflower, flax, and pumpkin Include almonds, peanuts, cashews, and walnuts, as all four nuts have numerous health benefits and may help restore the health of your hair too.

1o. As per the recipes shared by the author, be it bean salads, dark chocolate oat bars, sesame, coconut, or peanut bars, she has made it a point to make them nutrient rich, healthy, and tasty as well.

From your review, I conclude that this book written by a trained pharmacist gives us a fair amount of causes of common hair ailments and how the right hair care and diet can help. It would be important to see if it takes into account the Indian lifestyle and climate.

Two things I’ve embraced in the past for hair care (and I’m so glad I found these in your tips too!)1. Using sulphate-free shampoo2. Conditioning after shampooing.
There are some tips that I found here which I’m still guilty of having as a regular habit like hot showers (unavoidable because of the cold weather here), tying up hair tightly (which I’ve more or less improved over the past year, by replacing messy bun with a ponytail at least!) Thanks for these insightful tips. and you also made me happy to realize my eating habits are great for my hair (I eat yogurt and nuts every day )
