When the clock tick-tocks

Pop, pop,” someone said, as the clock tick-tocked with a steady beat,

“Hop along,” they added, as if urging me to move my feet.

I zapped up my blanket and fell asleep without a care,

But the ringing bell and splashing water woke me from my slumbering lair.

In my dream, a genie appeared with a booming voice,

“Boom, I’ll give you a boon,” it said, as if offering me a choice.

It prepared to snap its ring and bring some magic to life,

“Close your eyes and make a wish,” it said, removing any strife.

I closed my eyes and made a wish, hoping it would come true,

But as I opened them, the genie had vanished without a clue.

It was just a prank to show me that magic isn’t the key,

Only hard work and relentless efforts can fulfil every dream, you see.

So remember, don’t fall for laziness,

Life’s lessons come from hard work and determination, a clear idea.

And when the clock tick-tocks and the world seems late,

Rise up and face the day with courage, it’s never too late.

The poem is written as the part of BloghatterA2Z for the alphabet O.

O is for Onomatopoeia.
